19/Jan/15We were delighted to receive confirmation, just before Christmas, that we have been awarded a new funding pot to work in Wokingham with our 'When I'm 64' friends. It will be a challenging project as the subject is bereavement and how we deal with feelings of grief. The group of adults with learning disabilities that have (hopefully) kindly agreed to work with us, are a sensitive and friendly group who will reflect on this subject through performance. We will be working with Cathy and Mandy from Circus Scene as before. We can't wait to get started in February as the whole process is being filmed and has the potential to make a real difference.
We are continuing with all our other workshops after tweaking some content to keep relevant and current. The new team are full of enthusiasm and great ideas which keep us on our toes. I am working more often in Cambridge but the team are still based in Berkshire. Our office/rehearsal space in Crowthorne has just been improved on with a new kitchen and an extra wall! It is still full of fur and foam just as we like it, but smarter and with a new space to rehearse in.
So for 2015 I plan to write more about the thinking behind our work, alongside making new puppets. We still need more bookings of Times of our Lives - please remember this is a free workshop for all schools in Wokingham, Reading and West Berkshire. Melissa and the team are rehearsing new content and preparing for a year of exciting workshops. Please let me know if you would like to know more about our work.
